“The room is moist and dark. The ants are always finding their way into it. It is the darkest space that A and B ever shared. They haven’t seen the light for days. The sun enters the space only in the morning, through the shades, dancing on furniture and things. The sun is B’s only companion. She wonders: “ Why do I feel so lonely and weirdly sad, still…this is all so…beautiful.” – 365
Croatian choreographer and performer Petra Zanki is thrilled to premiere her first work created in the USA: an intimate, moving meditation on love, what it is, and what it might not be. Working in tandem with Seattle dancer Lauren Linder, musician Erin Jorgensen, and photographer Erica Keeling, 365 is a gradually unfolding, profound reflection based on an autobiographical collection of notes and poems written over the course of one year. Zanki works closely with light, text, reflection, and gently unfurling movement, resulting in a mesmerizing visual poem for one body that is both gentle and intense in its execution. 365—the number of days in one year—speaks of isolation, hope, and longing spaces in hearts with rooms full of light in each of us.
