STRICTLY SEATTLE is a
 complete immersion into the Seattle dance scene. Five adult programs inspire beginning through professional level dancers with rigorous physical and compositional training in a challenging and invigorating environment. Strictly Seattle is a supportive community of open experimentation and camaraderie where dancers form alliances for future collaborations.

Participants develop a new work in collaboration with Kate Wallich, Pat Graney, or Alice Gosti (Professional / Advanced), or KT Niehoff (Advanced – Dance Film Track), Mark Haim or Stephanie Liapis (Intermediate), Maya Soto (Beginning) + Jaret Hughes (Beginning Hip Hop).

PROFESSIONAL / ADVANCED SESSION


PROFESSIONAL / ADVANCED SESSIONS
 are for dancers at an advanced to professional level of training. Dancers develop a new work in collaboration with one of three nationally renowned choreographers. Professional level technique classes include contemporary dance, ballet, contemporary West African, partnering, improvisation, creative process, Dance Church, and sessions in nutrition, injury prevention, and fostering a dance career.

AUDITION Sunday, July 9th from 2:30 – 5:00PM at Velocity to determine placement.
All PROF/ADV participants MUST be at the audition for placement. Video auditions will not be accepted.

DANCE FILM TRAcK


DANCE FILM TRACK
is a three-week immersion taking the filmmaker through every step of the process as they create their own short dance film.

Participants take up to two technique + creative process classes of their choosing each day, then work with filmmaker/choreographer KT Niehoff and a professional cinematographer, composer, and editor to learn the necessary elements of creating a film – sound and choreographic elements, storyboarding, location scouting, styling, and rehearsing material through the perspective of the camera’s lens. Each student will have the opportunity to shoot their own film to be screened at Strictly Seattle Performances. The Dance Film Track is co-produced by Velocity and KT Niehoff / 10 degrees.

INTERMEDIATE SESSION

Strictly Seattle links arms with womxn + equity advocates to celebrate the histories of womxn on Capitol Hill. Invisible Womxn is a 3-hour outdoor event co-created by local womxn’s groups and community leaders, musicians, poets, dancers, directed by Alice Gosti.
